Solange Releases Phenomenal Surprise Album ‘When I Get Home’

The Knowles family loves to surprise their fans. After Beyoncé’s self-titled surprise album in 2013, her sister Solange did the same thing last night by releasing her new album ‘When I Get Home’ without any prior announcement or promo. The nineteen tracks counting concept album is full of goosebump moments that will haunt you for days.

When I Get Home is Solange’s fourth album and is a follow-up of her critically acclaimed album A Seat at the Table that made it into many lists of best albums of 2016. After listening to the new album, we can assure you that history will repeat itself and can tell you that When I Get Home is a real masterpiece with many emotions.

A tribute to black culture

Solange isn’t afraid of making statements and that’s exactly what she is doing with the new album. The heavily R&B-infused song “Almeda” is one of the songs whose message really stands out and inspires us to think. “My Skin Is A Logo” is another example of testimony the American singer is making about her skin color. Extremely powerful and straight into the face. The interludes between the songs are empowering the message even more and give this album a storytelling worth we don’t hear very often.

Jazzy and soulful R&B is again the sound Solange is going for on her newest project she wrote and produced herself too. There isn’t any doubt that Solange is one of the most inspiring artists of this generation. Not convinced by our words? Well, listen yourself and fall in love with this once in a lifetime album full of statements. When I Get Home is an album the world needs in difficult politic times like these. Just phenomenal and timeless!
