Swatch Adds 7 New Masterpieces to Its Art Journey Collection

The Swatch with art love affair started in 1985, and we can say that the 38-years-counting relationship is now stronger than ever. In fact, seven new masterpieces will join the Art Journey family on March 16th and April 13th. This time the Swiss watch brand is collaborating with MOMA in New York, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Gallerie degli Uffizi in Firenze, and the Foundation Magritte.

Among the seven watches, there are two we’re especially fond of: the designs inspired by “Le Fils de l’homme” and “La trahison des images” by René Magritte. Since we’re Belgian, René Magritte has a very special place in our hearts. The surrealist painter is famous for his depictions of familiar objects in unfamiliar, unexpected contexts. His works often provoke questions about the nature and boundaries of reality and representation.

Next to René Magritte, the five other watches feature artworks from pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, early Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli, and Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. Thanks to Swatch, everyone can now wear a masterpiece around their wrist.

The Swatch x MOMA and Swatch x Magritte watches will be available in Swatch stores and on the Swatch webshop from March 16, and the Swatch x Gallerie degli Uffizi, Swatch x Louvre Abu Dhabi watches from April 13.
