Tessa Dixson Covers ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ for WECANDANCE Festival

The summer is just around the corner and we can’t wait to spend our summer at some nice festivals. One of the festivals we’re looking forward to is WECANDANCE. For the first time, the festival is introducing a live stage with performances by the best alternative female pop acts from Belgium.

Tsar B, Sylvie Kreusch, Charlotte Adigéry, Martha Da’Ro and Claire Laffut are among the acts that’ll grace the Super 8 Live Stage. They will bring their strong pop to the wonderful people of WECANDANCE. Also performing on Saturday, 10 July is the young American-Belgian singer Tessa Dixson, who just dropped the theme song of the festival.

It’s going extremely fast for Tessa Dixson this year. Since our interview in December, the singer has won the biggest radio contest of the country, played a lot of shows, released extremely good songs and videos… Reasons enough for the organizers of WECANDANCE to ask the Brussels-based singer if she wants to make the theme song of this year’s edition.

A legendary song by a legend-to-be

Originally performed by Lou Reed, Tessa Dixson is taking her shot at the legendary “Walk On The Wild Side”. Choosing a song everyone knows is a big risk, because it sets the expectations extremely high, but Dixson is taking this hurdle with ease. Giving the song a melancholic, colorful and dreamy twist by making it a low tempo electro song was the best choice they could make. The song is accompanied by a video clip, which amplifies the mood of the song, and totally underlines the esthetics of the festival, this collaboration was a bold and strong move from both sides.
