The 10 Best Releases of The Week

We are secretly already dreaming of next summer and its numerous festivals, where we hope to discover some interesting talents and sing at the top of our lungs during the sets of our fave pop stars. To prepare ourselves as best as possible, we keep a close eye on all new releases and choose our favorite releases every week that know how to inspire us. From big artists to emerging newcomers or from true rave music to absolute pop perfection. Once again, we dish up the most diverse tracks that each managed to convince us in their own way.

1. Lana Del Rey — A&W

The melancholic soul in us looks forward to a new album from Lana Del Rey every time and Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd is no different. Before we get the whole project on March 24, the American singer gives us a taste with “A&W” and delivers perhaps one of her best songs in a long time. In about seven minutes, she evolves from her familiar sound to a captivating electronic trap beat on which she even raps. We’ve never heard Lana like this before, and we’re obsessed.

2. Nina Kraviz — Tarde

We know Nina Kraviz mainly as a Russian techno queen, but in recent years she has been showing her ambition as an artist. On her new single, “Tarde”, she once again puts herself in the spotlight as a singer, producer, and songwriter, enveloping herself in mysterious melodies far away from pumping techno beats. Nina Kraviz seeks real musical depth in her music and creates an insanely exciting atmosphere on “Tarde” in which her vocal lines fit perfectly with the dark samples of wind instruments. It’s clear she can do it all.

3. Luna Morgenstern — IDONTOU

Last autumn, Luna Morgenstern already teased that new music was coming in our exclusive interview, and with “IDONTOU” she finally shows her cards. On a symbiosis between hyper-pop and ethereal sounds, the German artist talks about sexually transgressive behavior and makes a clear statement both in terms of lyrics and music. We are always up for music with a strong message and are all the happier when the production level blows us away at least as hard.

4. Alé Araya — Earth Angel

Los Angeles-based Chilean singer and producer Alé Araya tries to push boundaries with her music, and on “Earth Angel” she searches for the celestial in our world. It is not just the electronic pop song that manages to convince us, but the accompanying music video gives us an extra dimension to dream to while listening to her music. Everything is so well put together and takes us into Alé Araya’s own universe, and with “Earth Angel” she manages to make us instantly hang on her every word.

5. rlyblonde — Fantasy

On valentine’s day, rlyblonde let her love for music speak louder than ever with the infectious “Fantasy”, letting us look into her cards for the first time. The elegant pop punk quickly finds its way into our ear canals and immediately settles into our brains. Despite its rougher edge, the poppy character is also still present, which allows her to appeal to a wide audience and garner fans rapidly. “Fantasy” captures our imagination and is a fine debut single that we’ll be replaying constantly to express our love for this new artist.

6. Sola — Abide In U

“Abide In U” is Londoner Sola’s first release since 2021 and makes up for the long wait with an incredibly layered and strongly composed piece. At the drums is none other than award-winning drummer Moses Boyd, who lends the right dynamics to the jazzy production and gives the perfect framework to Sola’s message of vulnerability. “Abide In U” is an engaging, musical introspection of Sola’s soul but also showcases her abilities as an artist. We lose ourselves in her music time and again.

7. Hēir — Rewind

“Rewind” is the first single Hēir wrote for her new EP and came about during a period when she was struggling with unhealthy friendships and an abusive relationship. Writing the song was her way of getting her power back in her own hands, but at the same time, it is one of her best tracks musically. The electropop song leans towards alternative pop artists like Lykke Li and Tove Lo, which is especially evident in the uptempo song’s melancholic undertone. “Rewind” not only looks back but mostly beckons to a bright future for the Russian-born Hēir.

8. Ezra Williams — Deep Routed

Leading music magazine DIY described Williams as Ireland’s finest bedroom pop talent, and thanks to “Deep Routed”, we can only agree. There is a lot of emotion and depth in the new single without it ever feeling too cliché or forced. The song’s intimacy is mainly due to the beautiful vocal lines that are enchantingly subdued and match the melancholic instrumentation incredibly well. As the song progresses, the intensity rises due to the increasingly grand-sounding vocals of this Irish talent. Wonderful!

9. Aime Simone — Baby Don’t Quit

In France, the hype around Aime Simone is already huge, but the rest of the world will soon follow as his quirky sound has everything that can take him to the world’s top. On “Baby Don’t Quit”, he goes for the sentimental route, but he doesn’t fall into a black hole. In fact, there is something hopeful and motivating in the track, which may also be thanks to the particularly good chorus. By the way, the music video is also highly recommended because it highlights the dreaminess of his music thanks to beautiful visuals.

10. Brooke Candy — Juicy Fruit

American pop provocateur Brooke Candy represents exactly what ENFNTS TERRIBLES stands for: the unexpected, loud, and above all, challenging. With “Juicy Fruit”, she again proves herself as an absolute cool kid who does not hide herself and her sensuality. The anthemic chorus soon has you singing along, and the distorted elements in the last part also create a unique atmosphere, adding glamour to the rocking guitars. “Juicy Fruit” is as juicy as the title suggests, sweet!
