The 10 Best Releases of The Week

We are secretly already dreaming of this summer and its numerous festivals, where we hope to discover some interesting talents and sing at the top of our lungs during the sets of our fave pop stars. To prepare ourselves as best as possible, we keep a close eye on all new releases and choose our favorite releases every week that know how to inspire us. From big artists to emerging newcomers and from true rave music to absolute pop perfection. Once again, we dish up the most diverse tracks that each managed to convince us in their own way.

1. umru & Warpstr — GROUNDBREAKER

We have expressed our love for PC Music many times before and remain fans of the label’s visionary vision. Estonian-American producer umru is one of their frontrunners, and for the new single “GROUNDBREAKER”, he collaborated with up-and-coming American hyperpop producer Warpstr. Even though the synopsis is almost entirely instrumental and the lyrics are mostly samples of vocal lines, they manage to convey a sense of euphoria, creating a song that screams to be played at the next party we go to.

2. Glints — All In

Antwerp-based Glints is a familiar face to ENFNTS TERRIBLES, and we have been following them extensively for some time. So we were delighted when the rapper announced his second album (release: April 26) with “All In”. On the song, he—once again—switches between rap and vocals but mostly builds up again towards grand and bombastic choruses where the samples are given a golden edge thanks to an arsenal of wind instruments. On “All In” Glints really goes all in and could hit the jackpot.

3. orbit — Missing the Moon

As recently as November, we spoke with orbit on a night walk through Brussels, and he solemnly promised that new music was coming. The German multi-instrumentalist did not lie because with his new song, “Missing the Moon”, orbit makes it clear he has an incredible feel for melancholic, mysterious soundscapes. And thanks to haunting synths, those melancholic, mysterious soundscapes stay with us time and again. “Missing the Moon” is an ode to the night and makes us dream away from the very first notes.

4. Ruby Grace — Scissorhands

Belgian pop nymph Ruby Grace disappeared from the radar since her 2021 EP Glossy Bisous, making us suspect she was working on big things. Now, thanks to “Scissorhands”, light is coming into the darkness for the first time in a long time, and we get a taste of her big comeback. In the subdued hyperpop ballad, it is once again her unique voice that stands out, opening the gates of a fairy-tale landscape. We are curious to see how this pop fairy tale will evolve.

5. Lola Young — Don’t Hate Me

“You say that I’m really fucking boring/But that’s rich coming from you”: these are phrases that have been stuck in our heads for weeks after Lola Young went viral with the teasers of “Don’t Hate Me” and even got the attention of Bella Hadid. The London wonder voice may have her big break ahead of her new project My Mind Wanders And Sometimes Leaves Completely (release: May 26). The jazzy soul vibe in her voice always gives us goosebumps and comes into its own on this new track. As such, it’s hard not to love her.

6. GR€Y — Takin It Off

Artists who relaunch themselves always show courage for change, and that is what GR€Y (formerly TheColorGrey) is doing now. The Belgian artist took inspiration from the Congolese capital Kinshasa for his new album and immersed himself completely in its world of music. So it stands to reason that “Takin It Off” is a very summery afrobeat stunner, immediately setting everything and everyone in motion with its rich percussion. Despite his stage name being GR€Y, we mostly hear a colorful spectrum of warm sounds. Welcome back!

7. Grace Carter — Pick Your Tears Up

London’s Grace Carter has a long track record and has been working on her breakthrough for years. She hasn’t released any music since 2021, but the demand for new music has only continued to rise. So fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief because with “Pick Your Tears Up”, the British has a real earworm to add to her record. The mix between minimalist pop, soul, and R&B seems to work perfectly, making us look forward to more new music from Grace. She has already dried our tears with “Pick Your Tears Up”.

8. Creams — Need To Talk

We need to talk because since hearing Creams’ “Need to Talk”, we can’t shake the feeling that we are on the eve of something bigger for the Georgian singer. In slightly abstract electronic melodies, it is mainly her chanting vocals that take us on an unforgettable trip. We hear hints of MØ, Lykki Li, and Allie X in the way of atmospheric creation, and let those be precisely artists who have never disappointed us before. The striking, unexpected outro adds another pleasing twist to this strong single.

9. mui zyu — Talk to Death

The Hong Kongese-British artist mui zyu has had an exciting week as her debut album, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century, saw the light of day. Included on it is “Talk to Death”, which featured a stunning music video, and musically sets a moody atmosphere at least as quirky as the accompanying visuals. The song’s dark undertones fit perfectly with the soft vocals of the debuting talent, who will undoubtedly achieve a lot of great things if she continues on this momentum.

10. Lucia & The Best Boys — When You Dress Up

If we were allowed to give away a prize for the cutest artist name of the week, the Scottish Lucia & The Best Boys would undoubtedly go home with a trophy, but her new single “When You Dress Up” might also be up for some prizes. The song is about the effects of womanhood and seems to build up to a grand apotheosis right from the start, which it does in the form of a bombastic finale. “When You Dress Up” seeks the extremes, leaving us with an electrifying feeling every time.
