The 10 Best Releases of The Week

We are secretly already dreaming of the upcoming summer and its numerous festivals, where we hope to discover some interesting talents and sing at the top of our lungs during the sets of our fave pop stars. To prepare ourselves as best as possible, we keep a close eye on all new releases and choose our favorite releases every week that know how to inspire us. Because our hearts beat pretty fast for emerging talent, today we are highlighting ten young talents, most of whom are working without a major label.

1. Kai Bosch — Moths

In his songs, Kai Bosch often incorporates his own experiences, which are undoubtedly very recognizable to the queer community. For example, the new “Moths” is about being in love with a person who is not emotionally ready to take further steps. That emotional side can also be heard in the English artist’s melancholic music. Still, we also hear a certain cheerfulness in “Moths”, which we appreciate, and gives this single a golden edge.

2. BIG WETT — NUMBER 1 PUSSY

After “EAT MY ASS”, BIG WETT follows up with the brand-new “NUMBER 1 PUSSY”, staying true to her love of explicit lyrics. Just like last time, the Australian talent doesn’t shy away from the sensual and seductive with lyrics like, “Number 1 pussy in the club”. On a particularly danceable and upbeat production, she immediately shows that at every club she goes to, everyone turns around when she enters. “NUMBER 1 PUSSY” doesn’t bring much depth, but it’s that playfulness and IDGAF attitude that we like so much.

3. Abor & Tynna — Geisterfahrer

“Geisterfahrer” (translated: ghost driver) is an atmospheric song with a slower pace and beats that are more in the background. However, this does not mean that they slow down. On the contrary, through samples of violins, among other things, and a very quiet drum and bass undertone, the Viennese duo creates a sound we don’t hear very often. Add to that layered vocal lines, and you have a single that captivates us due to its innovative nature.

4. Frost Children — ALL I GOT

The American duo Frost Children makes music that is hard to pigeonhole yet delivers their most radio-friendly work to date with the new “ALL I GOT.” Despite the obvious glitchy, hyper-pop influences, there is a certain accessibility that could make them popular with a wider audience. So we’re looking forward to their new album SPEED RUN, which will be released on April 14.

5. Ashnikko — Worms

Over the years, Ashnikko’s blue hair has become her biggest trademark alongside her music. Her debut mixtape DEMIDEVIL showcased her versatility as an artist, so we’re looking forward to her debut album WEEDKILLER (releasing on June 2). After the challenging “You Make Me Sick!” the American artist seeks a little more tranquility with “Worms” by playing on a catchy R&B beat, using her autotune-soaked voice to put all the right touches on the song.

6. Shay — Jolie Go

As the sun keeps peeking out during these gray days, we secretly dream of summer already. To that end, Belgian pop diva Shay delivers the perfect soundtrack with her sensual single “Jolie Go”, where she provides a real earworm on delightfully summery beats. With an easy sing-along chorus, this song is the dance track that keeps you moving. “Jolie Go” is already a hot candidate for our summer playlist.

7. Eliza Rose — Better Love

After scoring a huge hit with “B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All)” last summer, Eliza Rose is conquering major festival stages for the first time this summer. Her new release “Better Love” is a fantastic addition to her set list, as the song has the same exuberant atmosphere that we came to appreciate in her world hit. The English artist has her own sound and makes it particularly easy for us to love “Better Love”.

8. SG5 — Firetruck

A new supergroup has been unleashed on us with the quintet SG5 (short for Sailor Guardians 5). For their English debut “Firetruck”, the Japanese group managed to enlist none other than BloodPop (Lady Gaga, Madonna, Beyoncé) and Hudson Mohawke as producers. Somewhere between industrial sounds and pop, they find a middle ground that we haven’t heard much in these proportions. “Firetruck” is particularly fierce and powerful, ensuring SG5 made a great start with their English debut.

9. King Isis — taste of u

King Isis is definitely counting the days until their debut EP scales sees the light on March 29. The latest addition to the roster of Dirty Hit (The 1975, Rina Sawayama) is shortening that wait with their new song “taste of u”. The American artist possesses a rich arsenal of musical influences that knows how to captivate and inspire us. “taste of u” is a particularly strong preview of a wonderful career.

10. Unflirt — Anywhere

We conclude our selection this week with the wistful melodies of Unflirt, which hits us right in the feels with “Anywhere”. There is so much authenticity and power in her songwriting and atmospheric creation, managing to bring you along on her journey from the start. The West London native has a gift for creating a magical moment with her moving voice and gives us goosebumps with “Anywhere”. Beautiful.
