1. Dorian Electra — Freak Mode

“Freak Mode” is the first song of American artist Dorian Electra’s new era and takes a new direction as well. The flamboyant and extravagant productions are given an eccentric character by the wind instruments during the stanzas. However, it is mainly the blood-curdling choruses where a sound wall overwhelms us that makes all the craziness fall into place. “Freak Mode” is never subtle and is a maximalist pop circus full of unexpected twists in every single way.

2. BETWEEN FRIENDS — Bruise

The first single from the new chapter of BETWEEN FRIENDS is titled “Bruise” and sounds more alternative than what we are used to from the Cali duo. The bedroom qualities still remain but are made more powerful and engaging by solid guitars. In addition, Savannah and Hudson give each other more space than ever to shine, highlighting their joint bits better. This is pop music from gen-z for gen-z, which many a music lover will also enjoy. Their loyal horde of fans will certainly do so with “Bruise”.

3. Shygirl — Playboy / Positions

Shygirl has long been among our favorite English pop nymphs, but what she delivered with her incredible debut album Nymph exceeded even our highest expectations. And as she teased in our interviewNymph is about to get a deluxe version, giving a sensual addition with “Playboy / Positions”. On it, she combines her sexy raps and whispers with punishing productions, enticing you to listen on. Hot, hot, hot, hot!

4. Cyra Gwynth — 1 + 1

Anyone thinking of R&B in Belgium immediately thinks of Cyra Gwynth, who has showcased her talent in recent years with various projects. On “1 + 1”, she takes it even further by playing with different styles while gluing everything together with her impressive vocals. In the accompanying music video, she shows off her strongest side, serving both choreography and looks. Belgium is too small for such a talent made for the international stage!

5. Mahalia — Terms and Conditions

Last year, the British Mahalia released her EP Letter To Ur Ex, and this year, fans can enjoy her newest single, “Terms and Conditions”. On it, she combines all the elements that made her so popular, bringing them together in a particularly catchy track that blurs the line between R&B and pop. Mahalia has a delightful vibe in her music, which has yet to lose its magic after all these years. We stan a consistent queen.

6. Leon Thomas — Crash & Burn

American Grammy-nominated singer and producer Leon Thomas has worked with luminaries like SZA, Post Malone, and Ella Mai. And he might even bag himself a golden trophy with his upcoming debut album. His new single “Crash & Burn” is a soulful R&B number that captures the imagination, summing up all his talents into one song.

7. FILLY — Piece of Art

Music sometimes has the power to make you forget time and space. American FILLY succeeds in that aim, rounding off her debut EP, Watching Strangers Smile, with her new single “Piece of Art”. Guiding you towards colorful thoughts with cool synth lines, the dreaminess of this track can only be described as a real piece of art.

8. Ten Tonnes — Dancing, Alone

“Dancing, Alone” is the title track of Ten Tonnes’ upcoming album, Dancing, Alone, out July 28. With delightful nonchalance, the American singer-songwriter manages to give direction to the single that references the 1980s and Britpop bands. There is a certain moodiness that reminds us a bit of Declan McKenna and Circa Waves because, despite the dark undertones in the guitars, there is also a sharp cheerfulness hidden in “Dancing, Alone”. After a short instrumental, Ten Tonnes packs in yearning exclamations that make this single a success.

9. 7ebra — Done With the Day

7ebra’s sound leans towards singer-songwriter and Swedish pop-folk, which will no doubt help the Swedish sisters quickly win over hearts. The sentimental “Done With the Day” seeks wistful, musical places and further underlines the beauty in fragility. Their greatest asset is their delightful singing, where it becomes clear that they complement each other perfectly. Even though spring is already lurking around the corner, they give the last gray days another beautiful soundtrack with this single. The steady build-up towards a subtle climax in the guitar playing is the best proof of this.

10. Mura Masa — Whenever I Want

British producer and hit machine Mura Masa has big news: from now on, he will release music through his own label, Pound Recording. And to kick off that new adventure, the multi-talented artist released “Whenever I Want”. Apart from rousing beats, the track seems to be an ode to hip-hop culture and the use of samples—with its mainly clipped vocals giving the song a real edge. Mura Masa can do whatever he wants more than ever, and he makes that clear with this musical statement.
