In our weekly selection of the best songs, we unveil upcoming superstars and major bops, so grab your headphones and follow our brand-new Spotify playlist.

1. Jorja Smith – Try Me

Whenever new music from Jorja Smith comes out, we always keenly prick up our ears.  On the brand new “Try Me”, she somewhat once again showcases her incredible talent and devours you with a song that is a mix between a James Bond soundtrack and the sultriest summer night of your life. Thanks to Lost & Found, she already became a global star, but with the new “Try Me” she shows that she will not lose that status any time soon.

2. Zoe Wees – Don’t Give Up

German wonder voice Zoe Wees conquered the world with her voice during Pandemic and can now do the same with “Don’t Give Up”. In it, the “Control” singer brings pure emotion in a convincing vocal performance, which only comes across more punishing thanks to the anthemic production. Giving up is clearly not in her vocabulary, because what she delivers time and again is testament to true talent that has already achieved a lot of success at such a young age.

3. IRONTOM – Con Artist

American duo IRONTOM like to question the world and use their music to search for their part in everything that goes wrong in the world. This not only yields interesting insights, but also fascinating music. Their new single “Con Artist”, the first single from their new album, has become another interesting musical piece where both references to the present and the past can be heard. The accompanying surrealistic music video adds another layer to the track, which, as a music fan, you can only appreciate.

4. Immi Dash – Cold Heart

Glastonbury is still one of the world’s leading festivals, constantly giving interesting artists a chance with their ‘Emerging Talent’ programme. This year, emerging R&B voice Immi Dash is on that list and she shows with her new single “Cold Heart” that her music can warm up seasoned music fans. The vibe in her vocal flow magically glides along the cool production, so you never get tired of “Cold Heart”.

5. Jessie Ware – Begin Again

Jessie Ware underwent one of the most exciting metamorphoses we have witnessed in recent years. From being a celebrated ballad singer, she suddenly became the queen of the ballroom, which she impressively demonstrated on What’s Your Pleasure? The follow-up That! Feels Good will be released on 28 April, and with “Begin Again”, it has another spectacular song, where the elegance and refinement just drips off. What an incredible performer.

6. Rosse – Coincidence

You can curse TikTok, but no denying it has put a lot of artists on your radar. Rosse has been causing a furore for weeks with her teasers for the new “Coincidence”, which finally saw the light of day. In the verses, she even reminds us of Madonna at times, while in the chorus, thanks to the clubby beats, she takes yet another route. And in case you didn’t find the original version addictive enough yet, we can only recommend the Sped Up Version as well.

7. DJ Lilli – Nevapart

With almost three million followers on TikTok, we can hardly call DJ Lilli a newcomer anymore, but at the same time, we are sure that her new single “Nevapart” could become your favourite discovery of the week thanks to a delicious melancholy in the chorus, which could give heart to anyone with a shred of nostalgia. The screeching guitars in the background only accentuate that heartbreak, but also show that this versatile artist is not fixated on any particular genre.

8. Grace Carter – Bloodwar

Grace Carter has been swimming through many waters and seems to have found the magic formula for creating sublime pop ballads. On “Bloodwar”, she tells her story and how her father’s absence has made her the person she is today. The words hit us right in the heart and undoubtedly give a lot of people with the same situation courage. Grace Carter’s words touched us many times before, but this time even more than ever.

9. Njomza – Emotional

Having written hits for the likes of Ariana Grande and Mac Miller, it is now time for everyone to get to know her own work and impress themselves with her talent for writing punishing songs. “Emotional” has so many layers that you will be short of ears to absorb it all and discover new details with every listen, while she hits the mark with her vocal lines time and again.

10. Alice Longyu Gao – Let’s Hope Heteros Fail, Learn and Retire

Alice Longyu Gao is more than just a pop artist, as the artist tries to want to make a musical statement with each project by adding a satirical touch. “Let’s Hope Heteros Fail, Learn and Retire” is another sensational pop opera, with Gao alternating between styles and creating different atmospheres within the same universe. Expect the unexpected is therefore the most apt way to describe Alice Longyu Gao.
