The 10 Best Releases of the Week

Are you tired of playing the same old songs on your playlist? And are you down to add some new music to the mix? Well, we’ve got your back! We keep a close eye on the most exciting new releases and choose our favorites every week that know how to inspire us. In our weekly selection of the best songs, we unveil upcoming superstars and major bops, so grab your headphones and follow our brand-new Spotify playlist.

1. Domiziana — Hello Kitty / Elfbar

Thanks to cute vocal lines, Y2K fantasies, and Berlin rave beats from the hand of Juh-Dee and Young Mesh, Domiziana further expands her sound on “Hello Kitty / Elfbar”. While most of the lyrics are in German, she switches partially to Italian in the second verse, distinguishing herself from other artists by doing so. “Hello Kitty / Elfbar” has a high cuteness factor, but at the same time, it is a blazing introduction to an artist who is clearly playing herself into the spotlight. German hyper pop was not yet on our bucket list of things to take to our hearts this year but has clearly earned its place thanks to Domiziana.

2. Amelie Lens — Feel It

Antwerp-based techno queen Amelie Lens is among the world’s best and has built a gigantic empire with EXHALE. Before she travels the globe again throughout the summer, she released a summery techno record with “Feel It”, which—despite its heavy beats—has a summery flair thanks to its airy synths. We are busting out all the moves when she plays this one in her set because, with its powerful production, she shows why Amelie Lens belongs to the greatest in the techno world.

3. Ruby Grace and Raf Cyran — Shell

The ravishing Ruby Grace crawls out of her shell once more, releasing another uptempo song after the dreamy “Melodic Butterfly.” On the production of Raf Cyran (Boshra, AYRA), the Belgian artist creates a pastel-pink universe, where she emerges from an oyster like a true pearl and brings her sultry voice into focus. In the process, that voice is not only used in the verses or choruses but was expertly sampled to add energy to the beats. The Disney remake of Ariel may be taking the movie theaters by storm, but Ruby Grace is ready to rob you of your breath as a full-fledged pop mermaid.

4. Tove Lo — i like u

Swedish pop star Tove Lo is among our absolute favorites, as she has been setting the tone in terms of pop music for more than a decade now. To add to the universe of her album, Dirt Femme, she released an uncomplicated pop rave song with “i like u,” where references to the 1990s are prominently deployed. Tove Lo is the queen of bops, delivering earworm after earworm.

5. Porcelain id and Martha Da’ro — Rhythm Machine

Antwerp-based Porcelain id brings a crystal clear fragility to their music, making each song touch you to your core. Along with the equally quirky Martha Da’ro, “Rhythm Machine” puts a smile on our faces, while the music video is the icing on the cake. Porcelain id is a storyteller who leaves no soul untouched.

6. judith — happy for you

Judith’s individuality as a singer-songwriter comes out strong again on her second single, “happy for you”. Despite that sweetness, the depth of this single’s production has many exciting elements, making this more than a goodbye to an extinct relationship. “Happy For You” is the best proof that great talents in our small country can achieve a lot on the international market. Judith deserves that international breakthrough.

7. Dorian Electra — Sodom & Gomorrah

We’ve been fans of the American pop extraordinaire Dorian Electra for several years because of their incomparable perspective on pop music. Their newest single, “Sodom & Gomorrah”, is unsurprisingly another storm full of thumping bass, screaming guitars, and a chorus that needs to be roared along to by a sea of people. Dorian Electra is an electrifying artist and has been for years.

8. OTR and Uffie — Looking Down From Space

The American OTR will release his second album, Be Quiet, They’re Listening, at the end of July, which will feature his collaboration with pop favorite Uffie. Thanks to “Looking Down From Space”, we briefly imagine ourselves in a parallel universe, where the stars and planets float around us. Getting both feet off the ground in four minutes was just what we needed to forget everything around us.

9. Downtown Kayoto — Lite

Zimbabwean-born artist Downtown Kayoto is in the final stretch toward releasing his new EP, Learning in Public, and the new “Lite” only makes us even more curious about the overall picture. Oscillating between bouncing house, trap, and UK Grime, he builds a true party, where he continues his search for his place as an artist. This quest can only take him toward his breakthrough.

10. Absolutely — Higher

On her debut single, “Higher”, South London-based Absolutely takes us to higher ground, where she shows her full potential and aims for the stars. Created in collaboration with producer Dave Hamelin (Beyoncé, 070 Shake), the song shows her sense of writing strong melodies. Add to that the stunning visuals, and something tells us that this is not the last we have heard from her.
