The 10 Best Songs Of The Week

Are you desperately looking for brand-new songs to update your Spotify playlist? Don’t worry, we’re (once again) here for you. Every week, we pick the best songs of the week that surprised, moved, or electrified us. With a great range from big stars to upcoming singers, there’s room for everybody and everything. Turn up the volume because we discovered some true gems this week.

1. Florence + The Machine — King

The queen of alternative pop music Florence + The Machine has returned to her throne, and everything points to a new album. “King” sees her claim her crown as a phenomenal artist and builds up to a bombastic climax with Florence’s signature stellar vocals that just blow you away. There are only a few singers capable of creating such an intriguing and magical setting around their music, but Florence + The Machine is certainly one of them. Safe to say, we’re very excited for her fifth album.

2. Hannah Diamond — Staring at the Ceiling

It’s no secret that we have the biggest weak spot for everything coming from PC Music, and we were especially looking forward to new music by Hannah Diamond. “Staring at the Ceiling” is the first single of her new era and is another strong offering of the British hyperpop hero. The gentleness of her soundscape is so captivating, especially in combination with the contrasting hyperpop elements. We’re so glad Hannah Diamond is back with new music because “Staring at the Ceiling” reminded us how much we missed her.

3. ROSALÍA — CHICKEN TERIYAKI

ROSALÍA’s highly anticipated third album Motomami will see the light of day on March 18th. The first two singles “La Fama” (a collaboration with The Weeknd) and “SAOKO” indicate a shift in her sound, which is way more reggaeton-oriented compared to her flamenco-infused earlier work. “CHICKEN TERIYAKI” is structured around captivating beats that immediately encourage your hips to move along and showcase ROSALÍA’s vocals in the rawest way. Delicious!

4. BANKS — Holding Back

Our dark pop hero BANKS has been through a reincarnation for her new era and surprises us on “Holding Back” with a very different sound production. The song is a good omen for what we can expect from her fourth album. It’s absolutely refreshing to see that an established artist like BANKS still dares to experiment with sounds and try something completely new. “Holding Back” is less dark than we’re used to of her, but the newfound light gives her music an inspiring clarity.

5. Abby Roberts — Pink Champagne

Abby Roberts, UK’s most inspiring makeup guru, wants to show the world she’s far more than just an incredibly talented makeup artist. In January, she unveiled her debut single “Paramaniac” and revealed that her first EP is coming soon. “Pink Champagne” is her second single and is a bit more dreamy than her first one. Abby Roberts takes us on a bittersweet trip with her latest single, and we’re sure this isn’t by the last we’ll hear of her. Moreover, … something might be appearing on ET very soon. So, keep your eyes open!

6. Mura Masa, Lil Uzi Vert, PinkPantheress and Shygirl — bbycakes

When we last spoke to Mura Masa, he worked on a rock and punk-inspired album, but it’s clear that the genius British producer likes to explore new sounds once an album is out. For “bbycakes” he worked with BBC Sound‘s revelation PinkPantheress, the American rapper Lil Uzi Vert, and our favorite experimental pop act Shygirl. All of these acts manage to bring their own identity to the song and have their moment to shine, which is something we often miss in collaborations. This electronic pop gem is irresistible, and we’re sure that “bbycakes” will be the star of Mura Masa’s upcoming festival tour.

7. RoseeLu — Overthinking

We discovered RoseeLu last year when she showed up on our radar with her remarkable single “Playing Alone”. The Copenhagen-based singer is only 20 years old but is already full of ambition and will blow you away with her rock-inspired pop songs. “Overthinking” radiates so much joy and happiness with a very uplifting chorus that just puts a smile on your face. We all tend to overthink from time to time, but there’s no need to overthink this song.

8. BOY SODA — BIG

The Australian BOY SODA has been marking the Australian hip-hop and R&B scene with his unique vision, making him stand out among his peers. “BIG” is another song that won’t go unnoticed because there’s something so heartwarming and magnificent about the whole song. Besides showing his impressive vocal range, Boy Soda showcases his great sense of songwriting and switches between singing and rapping as if it’s nothing. What a talented artist.

9. yergurl — PUPPY DOG

She’s incomparable. She’s talented. And yes, she’s the moment! The Australian powerhouse yergurl is serving a lot of confidence on her new single “PUPPY DOG”. With some incredibly cool and cunty verses, she’s grabbing all our attention, demanding the spotlight to showcase her artistry. Barking dogs seldom bite, but we have been bitten by her incredibly badass new offering. We have a new obsession, and her name is yergurl!

10. EMILINE — Don’t Really Really Care

We’re concluding our list with a new talent from Belgium. EMILINE is an upcoming singer with a sharp pen and enchanting vocals that will make you fall in love with her quickly. Her new single “Don’t Really Really Care” is a very cute pop song with a catchy chorus, but most of all, shows her growth as an artist compared to her first two singles. We love to see an artist who gets better with every release, and EMILINE really pulled that off with her new song “Don’t Really Really Care”.
