The Weeknd Sets Another Milestone in His Career With New Album ‘Dawn FM’

We wouldn’t lie if we told you that The Weeknd belongs to the biggest pop stars of the past ten years. His songs were streamed a couple of billion times, he was the star of the Super Bowl halftime show last year, and drops one huge hit after the other. Everything The Weeknd touches turns into gold, and his fifth album ‘Dawn FMis his next argument to become a legend in the music history books.

“Take My Breath” was the only single that was released before The Weeknd announced his new album. Instead of dropping a handful of other songs, he surprised his fans with his new project without a lot of teasing or promotion. Dawn FM is a very cohesive and conceptually interesting album, where the Canadian superstar experiments a bit without losing the musical identity he’s known for.

Turn up the radio

In a little under an hour, The Weeknd serves amazingly produced songs that could all end up on the radio and have this timeless touch like we’re used to when it comes to him. American actor Jim Carrey is the narrator of the album and appears in between several songs, while Tyler, The Creator and Lil Wayne join him on a track. Dawn FM is a consistent and cohesive album, which is just a joy to listen to. This is another milestone in his career, especially because the sonic references to his earlier work go hand-in-hand with his previous album After Hours.
