Teasing

The album doesn’t come as a complete surprise though. We already had an idea something was up earlier this week. As the singer started posting footage of studio sessions on social media, our heartbeats kept on rising. Thursday morning a billboard then appeared in Shoreditch to announce the title of the new record. Later on that day Abel eventually dropped an instagram post with a caption saying nothing more than ‘tonight.’ But that one word was enough for us to realize things were about to go down.

Back to the roots

Honestly, we couldn’t be more happy with the result. We’ve been impatiently hoping that at some point, the Weeknd would release a project similar to his debut album House of Balloons. We had been longing for that down tempo, dark-alt R&B vibe we fell in love with in the first place. Well, our prayers have finally been answered because this album takes us right back to the start of his career. And it seems like we aren’t the only one appreciating Abel’s return to the dark side. On March 2 rapper Travis Scott posted a tweet saying: “Abel new album is scray. It’s like when I first heard him for the first time. Fuckkkkkk !!!!!”

Melancholic

The six-song collection shows the singer at his most vulnerable, melancholic state. His heartbreak with Selena might have hurt like hell but one thing is for sure. In the wonderful world of music a broken heart doesn’t have to be a bad thing after all. Try me and Wasted time, are by far  our personal favorites. Listen to the EP down below and let us know yours!
