Veja Launches 100% Ecological Running Shoe named Condor

French footwear brand Veja has been around for 15 years. They have slowly infiltrated the world of sneakers and they are becoming a household name across the world with their ecological shoes. Now, the Parisian brand is taking it a step further by releasing the very first 100% ecological running shoe.

0% petroleum

An overwhelming 99% of the material that is used to make running shoes is plastic, which is made out of petroleum. We don’t need to explain to you why that is kind of very bad for our planet. Veja rightfully thought it was time for them to work on a running shoe that isn’t made out of petroleum. And they did. Four years long, the company worked on techniques to design a good performance sneaker without having to use any petroleum or other plastic materials.

The solution was the use of rice waste, banana oil, sugar cane and wild rubber. By using those products, Veja was able to create the first running shoe that exists out of 53% bio-based and recycled products and 0% petroleum.

The Condor

Veja’s revolutionary sneaker is called Condor and it’s just the beginning, according to them. The design itself is simple, but good. We’d love to see them evolve into a more interesting design in the future. But for now, we’re totally into this Condor running shoe. The fact that they are the most ecological running shoes on the market, is a big plus obviously.

The Veja Condor is available from September 19 at Veja and selected stores.
