Woolrich Launches Woolrich Outdoor Foundation to Invest in Environmental Projects

The impact of climate change has been on the minds of more and more companies and people. And the American clothing company Woolrich is no exception. In collaboration with international organization 1% for the Planet, the company launched their Woolrich Outdoor Foundation on Friday, 26 March. The goal is to maintain and protect the planet and the outdoor life of communities.

The members of 1% for the Planet contribute at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental causes, and now Woolrich joins their ranks. One percent of the direct sales to consumers, e-commerce, and full-price sales will now be donated to roll out environmental projects.

That amounts to fifty percent funding and fifty percent donated goods, volunteering work, services, or ad and communication activities. They even estimate that they’ll be donating around 3 million dollars in funds in the first three years. The donated funds and resources will be dedicated to forest conservation, coastal maintenance, and urban renewal: the three pillars of the Woolrich Outdoor Foundation.

Forest conservation

To conserve our forests, the Woolrich Outdoor Foundation will dedicate funds and resources to protect forests around the globe. The foundation will only participate in projects that are based on scientifically proven reforestation techniques. Projects that make sure that the right native species are planted in the right areas. That way, biodiversity can increase, and forest conservation will improve, which will offer economic and cultural benefits to the local communities. And speaking of those local communities, Woolrich wants to support socio-economical projects about sustainable conservation, forest protection, and ecotourism.

Coastal maintenance

Funds and resources will also be dedicated to organizations that give sizeable contributions to the coastal environment and the safety, health, and welfare of coastal communities and economies. By offering courses, they want to collaborate with the communities to promote sustainable practices, develop policies and promote responsible citizenship. The projects will support people who are actively involved with the conservation of clean and healthy coastlines.

Urban renewal

Woolrich wants to contribute to urban regeneration projects that will help vulnerable and less fortunate communities. All projects should contribute to a better environment and better health for the people of those communities. The common thread here is that all projects should have a positive effect on the mental and physical welfare of the communities. This by offering social and physical improvement. That could mean the renewal of an outdoor space or an activity in nature for the urban communities. The goal is to help people spend more time in nature while respecting and caring for the environment.
