The bigger message
Weekday has always shown that through fashion, you can spread a way bigger message. They do so on a weekly basis with the Zeitgeist project and for FW18 the Swedish label joined forces with the Non-Violence project. It’s a non-profit organization that promotes solving conflicts without violence through educational programs.
This partnership consists of two parts. Besides a collection, there will also be a newly formed network of spokespersons. It’s called “dually dubbed Peace Force” and the team is composed of the nine individuals of whom we already spoke in the introduction. They won’t only become the face of the campaign, but will also be offered an introduction course from NVP. On top of that, they get the opportunity to become certified trainers to schools, sports teams and community centers in order to help others dealing with violence.
Also a collection inspired by the Non-Violence project has been created. Besides the inspiring quotes, you’ll find a gun graphic on a few of the items. This has been originally designed by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd. It was a tribute to John Lennon, who was shot and killed in New York City in 1980. The color palette was influenced by European emergency vehicles.
This collection will hit the stores and weekday.com on the 11th of October. Support the Non-Violence project and help promote peace, amen!
