11 Series and Movies Coming to Netflix in June

It’s the end of the month, so you know what that means: Netflix is about to be dropping a lot of new content. Seriously, June is going to be an amazing month for Netflix subscribers. From a Swedish drag queen movie to an Indian skater movie and the fourth season of Elite to the French series Lupin returning, June is about to be epic!

1. Carnaval

Nothing like a movie set in sunny Brazil to get you in the mood for the summer, right? The comedy movie Carnaval follows an influencer who takes her friends on a free trip after a nasty breakup. Celebrating carnival in Salvador da Bahia, she quickly finds out that life is about more than social media and likes.

‘Carnaval’ is coming to Netflix on June 2.

2. Dancing Queens

In this real rag-to-drag story, the Swedish film Dancing Queens follows 23-year-old Dylan Pettersson (Molly Nutley), who dreams of making it as a dancer. When she starts working at a struggling drag queen club as a cleaner, the choreographer of the club (Fredrik Quiñones) notices her potential. But to help the club and make her dance dream come true, Pettersson will have to transform herself to fit in.

‘Dancing Queens’ is coming to Netflix on June 3.

3. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Part 1 and Part 2

The Japanese shōjo manga series Sailor Moon has fans all over the world, and if you’re one of those people, you’re in for a treat because Netflix acquired not one but two Sailor Moon movies. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Part 1 and Part 2 sees the Sailor Guardians work together to fight against dark forces who enveloped the earth in darkness. Now, it’s up to the Sailor Guardians to bring light back to the world.

‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie Part 1 and Part 2‘ is coming to Netflix on June 3.

4. Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet

It seems like every time we make a Netflix list like this, the British natural historian and broadcaster David Attenborough is bringing out another Netflix documentary. And June is no different because Attenborough is back again with the documentary film Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet. The 75-minute-long film will take viewers through the history of planet Earth, detailing how we’re pushing against its limits, but also offering us solutions on how we can help our home.

‘Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet‘ is coming to Netflix on June 4.

5. Sweet Tooth

Based on a DC Vertigo comic, the series Sweet Tooth follows the half-deer, half-boy Gus who leaves the forest he lives in to discover the world that has suffered under violence. Together with friends and family, he tries to find answers about his hybrid self to save the world. (Fun fact: the show is produced by American actor Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey.)

‘Sweet Tooth‘ is coming to Netflix on June 4.

6. Awake

After having to stay silent in A Quiet Place and not look in Bird Box, it’s now time to stay awake in Awake. We all know how important sleep is, but what if you can’t fall asleep anymore? After a worldwide disaster knocks out all electronics, former soldier Jill, played by Gina Rodriguez (Jane The Virgin), has to protect her daughter (Ariana Greenblatt) while navigating a post-apocalyptic world where people can’t fall asleep anymore.

‘Awake’ is coming to Netflix on June 9.

7. Lupin

The first five episodes of season 1 of the French show Lupin were a booming success for the streaming giant, and luckily for us, part 2 is coming out in June! The story of the charming burglar Assiane Diop (Omar Sy) ended with a massive cliffhanger, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

‘Lupin’ is coming to Netflix on June 11.

8. Skater Girl

Netflix just keeps coming up with amazing movies, and Skater Girl is no different. The inspiring drama film follows Prerna (Rachel Saanchita Gupta), a girl living in a poor Indian village who discovers skateboarding. Giving her a sense of freedom, will skateboarding finally allow her to follow her dreams? (Fun fact: they built a skate park for the movie, which is now being used by the local community, and it even got the local kids all the way to national championships.)

‘Skater Girl’ is coming to Netflix on June 11.

9. Elite

The beloved Spanish YA drama Elite ended its third season with troublemakers Lucrecia, Nadia, and Malick heading west, but season four promises some new faces. With new relationships, new cast members, and an already confirmed fifth season, the lives of the students at Las Encinas High School promise to be scandalously fun to watch.

‘Elite‘ is coming to Netflix on June 18.

10. Fatherhood

While the American actor Kevin Hart is widely known for his comedic talent, he is branching out with the Netflix Original drama film Fatherhood. The movie follows Matt after he unexpectedly lost his wife after giving birth to their daughter Maddy. Thrust into parenthood as a single father, Fatherhood promises to be a real tearjerker, so get those tissue boxes ready!

‘Fatherhood’ is coming to Netflix on June 18.

11. Good On Paper

After starring in multiple comedy specials, New York City comedian, Iliza Shlesinger, gets a chance to shine in Good On Paper. Based on a guy Shlesinger dated, the movie follows the career-driven stand-up comedian Andrea who finally meets a guy that seems to be perfect for her. Nice, successful, and rich: Dennis seems to be the perfect package, but things aren’t adding up.

‘Good On Paper‘ is coming to Netflix on June 23.
