6 Movies Releasing This May: ‘The Little Mermaid’ And More

A new month means new releases. There aren’t many movies to be released this May, but as you know, we’re all about quality not quantity. And we are definitely getting quality with the Disney live-action remake ‘The Little Mermaid’, the thriller The Mother, and many more. Scroll down to discover our top picks for this month.

1. The Mother

American actress J.Lo proves to be a cool mom in The Mother. The Mother is a trained assassin who comes out of hiding after criminals are targeting her estranged daughter. Will this deadly hitwoman succeed in protecting her child she has never met?

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

3. Love Again

Great love stories can start in the strangest of ways. In Love Again, Mira Ray (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) sends romantic texts to the phone number of her recently deceased husband. What Mira doesn’t know is that the number has been reassigned to journalist Rob Burns (Sam Heughan). Rob is determined to find the woman behind these heartfelt messages. Superstar Celine Dion (played by herself) makes an appearance as Rob enlists her help to find a way to meet Mira.

4. Crater

In the movie Crater, it is the year 2257, and we follow a young boy named Caleb Channing (Isaiah Russell-Bailey) as he grows up in a lunar mining colony. After the death of his father, Channing and his four close friends set out to explore a mysterious crater before the boy has to move to a different planet.

‘Crater’ is coming to Disney+ on May 12.

5. Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me

Almost a year after the series Pam & Tommy, we get a more in-depth look at the life of American model Anna Nicole Smith. In the documentary Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, we learn more about the icon’s life throughout the 90s up until her tragic and early death. The movie features never before seen footage of the model.

‘Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me’ is coming to Netflix on May 16.

6. The Little Mermaid

There’s been some talk about the casting of Ariel, but we’re ready to see American singer-songwriter and actress Halle Bailey shine as Ariel in The Little Mermaid. The live-action fantasy and musical tells the old tale of mermaid Ariel who trades her voice for legs. Childhood memories are bound to resurface, get it?
