8 Hotels and Guest Houses to Stay at While Visiting Antwerp

Everything is finally starting to open up again now that the Covid-restrictions are being lifted, so it is the perfect time for a city trip. While faraway lands might still have to wait a while, Belgium offers a whole bunch of amazing cities to explore and beautiful hotels to stay at. One of those amazing cities is none other than our home base Antwerp, so scroll down to find out which hotels and guest houses we want to stay at asap.

1. aplace/antwerp

Located in the heart of Antwerp, aplace/antwerp can be found on the charming square called ‘De Vrijdagmarkt’ near a neighborhood frequently visited by the locals for its designer stores and trendy bars and restaurants. Founded in 2012, Karin combined her love for interior design, sincere hospitality, and her eye for detail in the homey suites and apartments of aplace/antwerp. Offering two large suites and two city flats, each with two bedrooms, decorated in a vintage style with a couple of new elements to give you a cozy feeling. A unique aspect of this stay is the local flea market held on the square in front of aplace/antwerp, making it the perfect place for those antique lovers!

(P.S. We loved aplace/antwerp so much we even shot our recent editorial with actress Natali Broods there.)

Price: 170 euros a night
Address: Vrijdagmarkt 1, 2000 Antwerp

For more information, visit aplace/antwerp’s website

2. Hotel Indigo

Within walking distance from the Antwerp Central train station, the Zoo of Antwerp, and the most important shopping street—the Meir—you’ll find Hotel Indigo. This boutique hotel consists of 82 rooms designed with oak details and modern accents, making it trendy and (we can’t put it any other way) Instagrammable rooms. On the ground floor, you’ll also find a restaurant and bar with a cozy outdoor terrace in the back.

Price: 95 euros a night
Address: Koningin Astridplein 43, 2018 Antwerp

For more information, visit Hotel Indigo’s website.

3. Hotel Julien

In the old town of Antwerp, steps away from the Cathedral of Our Lady, Hotel Julian is the urban sanctuary of style and calmness you need after a day of sightseeing. It’s the brainchild of Mouche Van Hool, who took care of the interior and design and renovated and restored the building with help from architects. Hotel Julien offers five types of rooms and suites with authentic wooden beams, with or without a terrace. A real treat is the rooftop terrace with greenery that overlooks the old town.

Price: 180 euros a night
Address: Korte Nieuwstraat 24, 2000 Antwerp

For more information, visit Hotel Julien’s website.

4. Mañana Mañana

Mañana Mañana is a tiny and cozy guest house located at Het Zuid, the south of Antwerp. It’s the perfect get-away for those that want to slow down from the busy city life and need some peace and quiet. You’ll find trendy shops, museums, and beloved bars and restaurants close by. And, if you don’t want to walk far for your food, Mañana Mañana has a coffee bar downstairs with delicious Spanish-inspired food. The guest house is also near the newly renovated docks of the river the Schelde so if you want to feel like a true local, buy some drinks at the supermarket, plop down on the docks, and enjoy the sunset like a true local!

Price: 101 euros a night
Address: Scheldestraat 15, 2000 Antwerp

For more information, visit the booking website of Mañana Mañana.

5. Hotel O Kathedral

Right across from the Cathedral of Our Lady and located in the heart of Antwerp, you’ll find Hotel O Kathedral. The rooms are equipped with modern design furniture, hardwood floors, and a beautiful view of the cobble-stone square of the cathedral. But what makes this hotel worthy of a visit, besides its perfect location, are the replica murals of the painter Peter Paul Rubens, who worked in Antwerp. The hotel also contains BarO, a bar with a beautiful view of the cathedral.

Price: 80 euros a night
Address: Handschoenmarkt 3/5, 2000 Antwerp

For more information, visit Hotel O Kathedral’s website.

6. Pilar

Hotel Pilar can be found in the bustling neighborhood called ‘t Zuid, a trendy spot with lots of bars, restaurants, and museums. Founded by Sam and Christophe, Hotel Pilar combines their interests in interior architecture and hospitality. Housed in a historic corner building overlooking the Museum of Fine Arts, the hotel offers 17 rooms, each with carefully curated art and furniture. An added feature is their food bar terrace that’s now back in business, where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

For more information, visit Pilar’s website.

7. U Eat & Sleep

Since the summer of 2017, you can find the hotel and restaurant U Eat & Sleep at Het Eilandje (meaning: The Little Island). Het Eilandje is a trendy hotspot that used to belong to the marina but is steadily stealing the hearts of the locals. In 2011, Antwerp’s largest museum Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) even opened its doors there, which resulted in a revival of the neighborhood. U Eat & Sleep offers 15 rooms with a stellar view of the marina, the MAS, and this fully renovated city area while still being within walking distance from the heart of the city. Besides the hotel, they also have a restaurant, food bar, and lounge: the perfect place to take in the beauty of the marina.

Price: 175 euros a night
Address: Nassaustraat 42, 2000 Antwerp

For more information, visit U Eat & Sleep’s website.

About a 15-minute metro ride away from the city center, you can find YUST Antwerp, a hotel, hostel, and long-stay all in one. This trendy hotel is perfect for those that want to save a buck on sleeping arrangements or those that want to sleep in style. They offer beds in dorms as a cheap option but also have several rooms available for those that want more privacy and luxury. Besides being the perfect stay for a short city trip, YUST also offers lofts for longer stays of more than a month. The hotel even has a restaurant, which is closed due to Covid as of writing this, but luckily for us the rooftop bar is open and offers a stellar view!

Price: 100 euros a night for a Yust room
