5 Series You Can’t Miss This June Including ‘The Idol’

June’s list of series is short and sweet. The series that are set to be released are ones you cannot miss, like the highly anticipated creation The Idol by Abel Tesfaye and Sam Levinson. June also brings some of our favorite men like Idris Elba, Tom Holland, and David Attenborough to the screen. Scroll down for June’s recommendations.

1. The Idol

To say we’re excited for Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd’s acting debut in the upcoming series The Idol may be an understatement. The singer plays Tedros, a self-help guru and the leader of a modern-day cult. We get to follow his complex relationship with Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), an aspiring pop idol. Jocelyn had to cancel her tour after suffering from a nervous breakdown but now wants to reclaim her title as the sexiest pop star in America. The show was written by Abel Tesfaye and Sam Levinson, the mastermind behind HBO’s Euphoria.

‘The Idol’ is coming weekly to (HBO) Max on June 4.

2. Never Have I Ever

The hit show Never Have I Ever’s fourth and final season is here. Throughout the previous seasons, we followed the romance and grieve-filled life of high-schooler Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan). In the fourth season, we enter the last year of high school. A monumental year for Devi with prom, graduation, and a potential new love affair. Forget a love triangle, for Devi, it’s a love square.

‘Never Have I Ever’ season 4 is coming to Netflix on June 8.

3. The Crowded Room

The Crowded Room is one for all the thriller lovers out there. After a shooting in New York City in 1979, Danny Sullivan (Tom Holland) is arrested as the main suspect. Through interviews with interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), we learn more about Danny’s life and the mysterious past that made him who he is. By talking to the curious interrogator, Danny even makes a life-altering revelation. Talk about a cliffhanger. Not only did Holland play the main role, but he also served as an executive producer on the show.

‘The Crowded Room’ is coming to Apple TV+ on June 9.

4. Our Planet II

When you want to wind down after a hectic day, Our Planet II is what you should watch. In the documentary miniseries, we discover everything about how and why animals migrate. An act that happens yearly, and all kinds of animals participate in it. The series combines beautiful imagery with the soothing voice of British biologist and broadcaster David Attenborough, who is the narrator. Get ready for some exceptional and imposing stories.

‘Our Planet II’ is coming to Netflix on June 14.

5. Hijack

Do we want to watch Hijack for the plot or for British actor Idris Elba? Both? Both. In Hijack, a plane has been hijacked and is on its way to London. During the seven-hour flight, authorities on the ground try to find answers as to why this is happening. Where does Elba come into play? He plays the role of Sam Nelson, an expert when it comes to negotiating. He uses his cunning to try and save the passengers on the plane, but if his risky strategy works out remains the question.

‘Hijack’ is coming to Apple TV+ on June 28.
