1. siovo – angel dust

A modern love tragedy based on true facts. That’s the perfect way to describe the new “angel dust”, because after a coup de foudre at Berlin nightclub icon Berghain, siovo decided to dedicate a song to his nocturnal crush. On a production somewhat akin to Troye Sivan’s recent work, siovo emerges as an artist with a clear vision: making catchy pop songs that tell queer love stories. The chorus therefore boasts the necessary portion of heartbreak, which, however, never sinks into the melancholic and was given a hopeful edge by the trance synths in the background. so siovo better keep a close eye on us.

2. Hannah Diamond – Perfect Picture

PC Music icon Hannah Diamond shines more than ever before, as her upcoming second album is released on 6 October. The title track once again awakens her intergalactic pop fantasy to life, instantly giving you the perfect picture of what to expect on her project thanks to its spacy melodies and her futuristic angelic vocals. Dreaming away on the purest pop melodies? You can still do that with Hannah Diamond.

3. CLOVES – Good Try

CLOVES has always embraced melancholic melodies in her music and it is no different on “Good Try”. Set to a hopeful piano melody, later increasingly enriched by guitars, she creates an intimate atmosphere for which she was clearly inspired by her musical heroes Radiohead. For this, her engaging vocals alternate between silky smooth vocals and dreamy outbursts that do not miss their effect. “Good Try” is her first, proper single since 2021 and shows that she still knows how to create timeless songs that, with their mysterious undertones, manage to fill the void in everyone’s heart.

4. Miso Extra – 50/50

On “50/50”, we hear no half-heartedness, but an artist with a clear vision. Namely, she combines her two roots in one song, alternating between Japanese and English, while experimenting with wonky beats, sly samples and summery percussion with the production. The overall package she delivers as a result sounds unique but at the same time accessible. Indeed, despite her colouring outside the lines, the whole remains a beautiful work of art. “50/50” is a captivating musical piece brimming with different sources of inspiration and all the more intriguing beats.

5. Unflirt – Stains

Good music always leaves its mark and this is no different on “Stains”. A flirty, intimate atmosphere lets you quickly drift away thanks to her soft vocal production, while the warm drums with a slight UK Garage touch keep you grounded at the same time. That beabadoobee is a fan of the singer shouldn’t be surprising either, as Unflirt manages to use the same musical elements to create a similar atmosphere that immediately makes your world of thoughts a lot more colourful. “Stains” is therefore a more than welcome addition to everyone’s playlist.

6. Luke Black – I’m So Happy

The Serbian singer Luke Black recently swapped his homeland for the metropolis of London, and you can hear it in his music. For his new single “I’m So Happy”, he took inspiration from Lily Allen, the 2010s British pop icon, and manages to translate that quirkiness into his music as well. Yet there is not only cheerfulness in this track, because through the guitars, he also places the lyrics of “I’m So Happy” in a different light, and between the happy synths you can also hear a touch of sadness. This dichotomy therefore makes the song all the more interesting introspection of an artist who, after his passage on Europe’s biggest stage, continues to find his way as an independent artist.

7. Phebe Starr – One Step. Two Step.

Phebe Starr has become one of Australia’s most exciting indie-pop songwriters, as her distinctive voice reminds us somewhat of a contemporary Kate Bush. On “One Step. Two Step.” she now takes big steps to announce her new album. Indeed, the atmospheric instrumentation with a slight melancholic undertone palms you in after the first listen and makes this single a super fine introduction.

8. Katie Gregson-MacLeod – Your Ex

Back in December, we introduced Scottish singer-songwriter Katie Gregson-MacLeod with an interview in which she promised us a lot of new music, and fortunately she did not lie. On “Your Ex”, she goes for a slightly more uptempo sound, with the acoustic elements still clearly emerging but enhanced with drums, among other things. As a result, “Your Ex” takes on a catchy character that would allow her to conquer radio stations.

9. BAYLI & sophie gray – BOTH

Brooklyn’s whirlwind BAYLI makes music for bad bitches and knows how to set the tone with her songs. For “BOTH” this time, she got the help of up-and-coming, 18-year-old producer Sophie Gray, who flirts with different genres in her production and delivers particularly sensual end results. At times, we are even reminded of Rihanna’s fantastic “Woo”, which is an absolute compliment.

10. Mickael Karkousse – Darling

With his band GOOSE, Mickael Karkousse has already performed on every major stage, but now the Belgian producer and artist is venturing into his solo project. On “Darling”, he explores electronic melodies that he enriches with, among other things, a swinging bass line and a danceable melody that even Daft Punk would envy. Those who like to dance should therefore definitely put this liberating dance track in their playlist.
