Last October we already talked about the Fendi Baguette revival and now it’s official, the It-bag from the ’90s is back. It was designed in ’97 by Silvia Venturini Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld and gained worldwide fame thanks to its appearance in the third season of ‘Sex and the City’. “It’s not a bag, it’s a baguette” was a gentle reminder to the design’s origins: the actual French baguette (yes indeed, that long piece of bread).
As we already mentioned in our Labellov article, the Zucca print and Baguette hype started on the second-hand market. For quite a while now, vintage Fendi bags have been a trending topic on Instagram and Pinterest. It was a very smart move from Fendi to relaunch one of its most iconic designs with a new epic video, featuring Sarah Jessica Parker.
If you’re planning to score a Baguette bag are you going for a new or a vintage one? Fendi’s latest version has been updated to modern needs and comes with a shoulder strap which might be handy. Obviously there’s also the corresponding price tag, the smallest Baguette costs around €1590.
