‘Freestyler’ 2.0: An Editorial Inspired by a Remake of the ’90s Hit

Before creating a new editorial, we have a habit of exploring old and new surroundings, of being open to all sources. It’s often a collection, a piece of art, photography,… This time, we were influenced by a remake of the iconic “Freestyler” video by Bomfunk MC’s, a brilliant idea of Belgian company Telenet to promote its newest product; YUGO. This new bundle combines wired and mobile internet with the best local and international entertainment and aims towards real freestylers: ambitious, independent, online and on the way. Instead of creating another traditional TV commercial, they decided to do their own version of the iconic ’90s video and let it go viral, which it did.

Just like the Telenet remake of the “Freestyler” video, the background of our editorial is a metro station. But we wouldn’t be Enfnts Terribles if we didn’t try to step up the game. We worked with artist, photographer and videographer Amassed to create these images, as well as three short videos that you can find on our Instagram.

The background isn’t the only similarity with the “Freestyler” video. If you look closely, you’ll recognize some pieces out of the collection of Belgian / Turkish designer Sebnem Günay, who also dressed the main character in the remake video. Four of the models appearing in the editorial, Flo Windey, Hakim Chatar, Saïd Boumazoughe and Average Rob, were also part of the video and the launch of Telenets Yugo.
