The Emotional Rollercoaster
The series takes off with a very simplistic introduction of the two main characters. James is a 17 year old boy who thinks he’s a psychopath and wants to kill a human being. Alyssa is a teenager who gets disproportionally mad for (almost) no reason. A bit absurd, but triggering. As the story evolves, the two characters become closer and the audience starts to recognize their feelings.
A big shout out goes to the brilliant screenplay of course, but also to the astonishing performances of the young actors Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden.
The Black Humor
Be prepared when you’re about to watch this eight-part masterpiece. The End of the F***ing World is absolutely not a regular teenage drama. There’s a lot of offensive language and it gets very bloody. Literally. Animals get killed, for example. But every shocking element contributes to the bigger picture, which is absolutely worth watching. Enfnts Terribles especially loves how the series found the perfect balance in bringing dark topics and not making the content too heavy.
