Five Fresh Belgian Artists to Watch in 2019

2018 has been a big year for the Belgian music industry. Angèle, Tamino, Tsar B and many others impressed us with their debut album and showed the world that there is a lot of talent in this country. Since 2019 is around the corner, we think it’s about time to introduce you to five fresh Belgian acts that could make it next year. Add them to your playlist and thank us later…

Martha Da’Ro

Martha Canga Antonia blew us away, in 2015, with her impressive rendition in the movie Black, where she played the lead role Mavela with grace. Emotion and storytelling are still playing a big part in her life because she’s starting off her solo career as a singer. After being part of the hip hop-collection Soul’Art, she now shares her stories through moody experimental, tropical R&B that conquers your heart within seconds. Debut single “Summer Blues” was already an impressive foretaste for what’s to come next… An EP called Cheap Wine & Paris is set for February 2019, so keep your eyes open.

Jaguar Jaguar

What happens when five ambitious musicians gather to make some music? You get the upcoming group Jaguar Jaguar. With members of Lohaus, Soldier’s Heart and Tamino, the band has enough experience to make it and has already found their sound: pop music with funky grooves and catchy beats. After releasing their debut EP Montjoi in November, they scored their first hit with “So Long”. Jaguar Jaguar is the colorful pop band we needed and wanted… Welcome to town!

Ruby Grace

Ruby Grace is only twenty years old, but has everything in store to conquer the pop world. Her deep voice, cool style and unique sound are a golden formula and grabbed our attention with ease. After releasing her addictive debut single “Lipgloss” at the end of the summer, Grace has been working on a lot of new music which is set to be released in 2019 and we can’t wait to hear it. Keep your eyes and ears open, because Ruby Grace can be a big star very soon.

2018 has been the biggest year for Belgian rapper K1D, who debuted back in 2015. He convinced everyone as a support act of massive rap-acts like Rejjie Snow & Russ, performed on the biggest urban festivals of the Benelux and released two albums this year, but next year promises to get even bigger. Constantly working on new songs and projects, there isn’t a way anyone can stop K1D in conquering the world. Get ready for take off!

Words can’t describe how in love we are with ambient pop singer Tristan, whose star started to rise in the past months. Her five songs, counting debut EP Illusje merges dance, jazz and ambient in a magical way, but it was her most recent release “Weslanda” that totally blew us away. At the end of November, Tristan performed three times as a support act of Tamino in Brussels’ music temple Ancienne Belgique, but it’s just a matter of time until she’ll be the headline act. Captivating, unique and more than interesting.
