5 Fresh International Artists to Watch in 2019

2018 was one of the biggest years in music, but 2019 promises to be even more exciting. There are many big artists stated to return with a new album, but there are also plenty of new, fresh acts that are ready to conquer the (music)world by storm.  After listing our favorite five Belgian artists who are ready to take over 2019, it’s time for five international acts to shine bright.

Ama Lou

We love artists with a clear vision and the 20-year-old, London-based singer Ama Lou seems to be one. After touring with the extremely gorgeous Jorja Smith and working on new music, 2019 is the year where the ambitious singer will blow the world away with her talent. Superstar Drake is also a fan, captioned a picture with her lyrics on his Instagram and slid into her DM’s to tell her how good she is. Her three song counting project DDD from last year was already a good indicator for what comes next and that’s promising. Ama Lou is the next big thing in R&B and can walk the same path as her good friend Jorja. What an amazing talent.

slowthai

Slowthai isn’t the newest trend in food, but is the alias of the UK rapper Tyron Frampton whose star definitely started to shine in the past months. Millions of streams on Spotify are the result of hard work and show that his music connects with people. Slowthai doesn’t hold back when it comes to his lyrics, that are spit with a fantastic flow. Songs like “Ladies”, “Polarod” or “Doorman” are intense, hit hard and don’t miss their purpose. Keep your eyes open for this young lad, because he’ll be releasing a lot of new songs this year that could make him even bigger.

Grace Carter

Having a global superstar as a fan isn’t bad at all. The British singer Grace Carter counts Dua Lipa to her fan base and has already supported the “New Rules” singer on her European tour. After debuting with her single “Silence” in 2017, the young singer worked on new music and captivated everyone with her first EP that came out last December. 2018 was a good year because Grace went on her first European headline tour, charted with her single “Why Her Not Me” in the UK and got to play at some festivals and that was only the beginning. Her fragile soul and R&B are ready to take over the charts, and we are so down for it. Bring it on, Grace!

SG Lewis

Aren’t you afraid of the dance floor? The 23-year-old producer and DJ SG Lewis isn’t either and brings people all over the world together to dance with his smooth, but still very energetic electronic songs. Sam Lewis isn’t new to the game since he released his first song “Warm” in 2015, but he started gathering more attention within the last years by releasing many exciting songs for which he collaborated with, for example, Gallant or AlunaGeorge. His most recent project is the three-part counting concept album Dusk Dark Dawn, which reflects the three parts of a night out. We already have the first two parts, but part three is set to be released in the next months. An exciting producer and DJ who has been under the radar for too long and deserves the success of, for example, Mura Masa or Flume.

Robinson

If we are looking for new, exciting pop stars we tend to take a look at the music scene in the UK, but one of our favorite upcoming singers of this year isn’t from the UK. New Zealand is the home of pop singer Robinson, who scored a massive hit with “Nothing To Regret” in Australia and her home country. Fun, easy-going and catchy are the best words to describe her quirky pop music that gets us instantly happy, but there is so much more about this young singer. Vevo DSCVR made her ‘One to Watch in 2019’ and we couldn’t agree more. Pop music at its best!
