Our 8 Tips for the Lineup of CORE Festival 2023

We are more than ready for the festival summer because thanks to HORST, we have a taste for it again. So this weekend, we are heading to Brussels, where the second edition of CORE will take place in the shadow of the Atomium. The collaboration between Rock Werchter and Tomorrowland had a successful premiere last year and brings together the best of the electronic, pop, and hip-hop worlds. We dove into the lineup to see which eight acts you should check out besides the stellar headliners Angèle, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, The Blessed Madonna, and Honey Dijon.

1. MAVEE

The 22-year-old Brussels-based singer Mavee gets the honor of opening the festival and, together with her dancers, will immediately make for a smashing start. Recently, her summery R&B pleased us with her single “I Know”, which put her chamois-sweet voice all over. Fans of artists like Jorja Smith or Ama Lou should descend on CORE early to see this rising singer shine.

MAVEE performs on Saturday, May 27, at 13:00 on the Endoma Stage.

2. eugene

Two years after we introduced him with our series On Our Radar, the Brussels-based eugene gets to prove himself at CORE. As part of the Brussels collective XXL, he has been causing a furor in the Belgian capital for some time now, and his mix between hyperpop and hip-hop seems to be reaching more and more fans. He is not for nothing considered by many to be the French-speaking version of Bladee and Ecco2K.

eugene performs on Saturday, May 27, at 18:45 on the Nabo Stage hosted by Fifty Lab.

3. PinkPantheress

PinkPantheress no longer needs an introduction, but we’ll do so anyway because this London singer should absolutely not be missed. Winner of BBC Sound of 2022, she was already a true phenomenon at festivals last year, but the hype around her has only increased thanks to her collaboration with Ice Spice. We can’t wait to sing along loudly to “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2”.

PinkPantheress performs on Saturday, May 27, at 20:30 on the Endoma Stage.

4. HAAi

At the beautiful, verdant amphitheater AltVerda, you can dance off into the sunset to the dreamy tunes of HAAi. The Australian-born, London-based DJ is among the most exciting DJs of the moment and has collaborated with some of the scene’s biggest names, such as Fred again …, Jon Hopkins, and Ben Böhmer. We can’t imagine a better soundtrack for nightfall.

HAAi performs on Saturday, May 27, at 21:00 on the AltVerda Stage.

5. Olivia Dean

English artist Olivia Dean has just finished her sold-out European tour and now gets to share her talent with the world at festivals. Her atmospheric and warm fusion of soul, jazz, R&B, and pop immediately puts you in the best state of mind, placing a broad smile on your face. Starting your second day with her beautiful music is probably the best way to get over your hangover from the first day.

Olivia Dean performs on Sunday, May 28, at 14:15 on the Endoma Stage.

6. zonmai

The French zonmai chose to move to Brussels two years ago and is close to her big breakthrough. Having already conquered SoundCloud, she is bringing her French songs with influences of rage and hyper-pop to bigger and bigger stages, and interest in this musical whirlwind is growing. In the setting of the Nabo Stage, she will provide a necessary energy boost at dusk.

Olivia Dean performs on Sunday, May 28, at 17:30 on the Nabo Stage hosted by Fifty Lab.

7. SHERELLE

The British SHERELLE is an absolute must for anyone who loves high-speed raves with influences from jungle, drum ‘n’ bass, footwork, and juke. SHERELLE’s sets guarantee huge parties, where the combination of danceable beats and the sun will put beads of sweat on your forehead. If summer had a soundtrack, it would be SHERELLE’s sound.

SHERELLE performs on Sunday, May 28, at 15:00 on the Orlo Stage.

8. Channel Tres

Channel Tres is one of the freshest names in the hip-hop world as far as we are concerned. Thanks to his improbably funky grooves and the drive of Detroit Techno, standing still during the American artist’s show is almost impossible. We cannot wait to see and hear the terrifying symbiosis between dance and hip-hop, as we recently experienced with Beyoncé during her Renaissance World Tour.

Channel Tres performs on Sunday, May 28, at 21:15 on the Endoma Stage.
