Premiere: Cyra Gwynth Releases Sultry Lockdown Track ‘High’

Cyra Gwynth is just 24 years old, but really living the dream. The Belgian singer with roots in the Philippines and the Netherlands is a familiar face for our frequent readers because we already introduced her by premiering her amazing track “Eight“. With over a million streams, she’s going in the right direction. So we’re happy to premiere her new single “High“, including a new music video.

The impact of a lockdown on the music industry has been massive but it also inspired many musical acts to work on new music. Cyra, for example, decided to work with the Dutch songwriter and producer Lamsi for her new track “High”. Even though they weren’t able to physically work together in the studio, they managed to make it all happen and the result is amazing.

High

When Gwynth heard the instrumentals Lamsi that sent her, she knew which direction she wanted to go for. “High” is a sultry R&B song with a laid back vibe and a dreamy undertone, which accentuates Cyra’s smokey vocals with ease. Talking about the meaning of “High”, Cyra says: “The song describes the feeling that can be interpreted in many different ways, so the listener is free to interpret the song how he or she wants.”

The single release comes with a brand-new music video and shows the creativity of young artists. Since Cyra wasn’t able to roll up her whole team to make the shoot, she decided to record the whole clip with a cam coder and iPhone. Her good friend and creative soul Julia Dubois Rosca helped her make the video that turned out pretty spectacular for being a homemade music video shot in her own apartment. Quarantine pushes artists to the edge of their creative mind and we’re excited that it can all turn out so well.
