The 10 Best Songs Of The Week

Are you desperately searching for brand-new songs to update your Spotify playlist? Don’t worry, we’re (once again) here for you. Every week, we pick the best songs of the week that surprised, moved, or electrified us. With a great range from big stars to upcoming singers, there’s room for everybody and everything. Turn up the volume because we discovered some true gems this week.

1. Caroline Polachek — Billions and Long Road Home

Caroline Polachek didn’t only embark on her tour with Dua Lipa but gifted us two new songs of her upcoming album. “Billions” and “Long Road Home” stand out thanks to Caroline’s signature vocal production and melodic arrangements. The dreaminess of her pop music always takes us to new imaginative worlds and stimulates our creative mindsets. Safe to say, we can’t wait for this new album!

2. Anna Shoemaker — Mariah

Anna Shoemaker recently got featured in our ‘On Our Radar‘ series, where we introduced the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter. Her upcoming debut album will be out on 2 March, but before we get to hear her full project, she released another strong single to tease Everything Is Fine (I’m Only on Fire). “Mariah” is a reference to Mariah Carey and Eminem’s feud and sees Shoemaker bundle all her frustrations about a toxic relationship.

3. EMY — Illusions

The Belgian neo-soul project EMY takes it step-by-step and doesn’t rush releasing music. After stunning us with their song “Inconvenient” last year, their new track “Illusions” is even more captivating and has a powerful build-up towards the choruses. The song is about dealing with the inevitable complexity of human relationships but doesn’t get lost in musical complexity. “Illusions” underlines that EMY are melodic wizards and have a bright future ahead.

4. Ö — Good Things on the Way

PC Music’s new protegé Ö already produced for our faves Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek but wants to explore even more sonic soundscapes on his solo music. “Good Things on the Way” follows the announcement of his new EP Hypernormality (releasing 11 March) and helped us escape from reality with its vocal-centered production.

5. Hot Flash Heat Wave — Bay Boys

Whenever you’re in a moody vibe, Hot Flash Heat Wave could be the perfect soundtrack of your day. The San Fransisco-based trio makes modern psychedelic music with surf-pop elements and teleports us to a sunny day on a desert beach with “Bay Boys”. The soft and happy melodies make you feel like you’re floating through clouds and radiate a weightless sensation.

6. AYRA — Dreams & Fantasies

AYRA has been working hard on her artistry, which pays off on different levels. The growth can’t only be seen in her visuals, but her confidence really shines through in her songs as well. The transcending electronic production of “Dreams & Fantasies” is the ideal setting for the upcoming Belgian singer to unfold her vocal capacity and convince us of her talent.

7. push baby — What Ya Gonna Do?

The boy bands of the nineties like *NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys have shaped a whole generation and have definitely inspired the pop duo push baby. “What Ya Gonna Do?” is an absolute pop banger that has the typical nineties adlibs and an impactful chorus. You’re going to love it from the very first second because this song just has the ultimate nostalgia energy we admire in push baby.

8. MUNGMUNG — New Flame

Let it be known: MUNGMUNG is the main character in our R&B pop fantasy. The Australian singer will release her upcoming debut EP MAIN CHARACTER on March 18th and already gives us another hint of what we can expect of her on “NEW FLAME”. The song is bringing together all her skills as a performer because she’s not only hitting all the notes but also spits bars like it’s nothing. We’re fire and flames for this new talent.

9. Anna Sofia — “No. 5”

The Canadian singer Anna Sofia immediately triggered our attention when we saw her breathtaking pictures popping in our mailbox and her new single “No. 5” didn’t disappoint us either. The young songstress is an absolute force to reckon with and merges pop and rock with effortless ease. “No. 5” is absolutely sublime and gets us excited about what we can expect from her in the upcoming weeks.

10. sonayou — book of shadows

Another Belgian pop act to keep an eye on is the upcoming singer sonayou, who already independently released two albums and a handful of songs. The singer has a lot of ambition and evolves with every new song. “book of shadows” is probably her strongest single yet and could please fans of Madison Beer or Ariana Grande. The next step for sonayou is finding a good team that can help her get her music more out there because the talent is already there.
