The 10 Best Songs Of The Week

Are you desperately looking for brand-new songs to update your Spotify playlist? Don’t worry because we’re (once again) here for you. Every week, we pick the best songs of the week that surprised, moved, or electrified us. With a great range of big stars to upcoming singers, there’s room for everybody and everything. Turn up the volume because we discovered some true gems this week.

1. Harry Styles — As It Was

He’s been dropping hints for months, and it finally happened: Harry Styles announced his third album Harry’s House (release: May 20th) and released his new single “As It Was”. The song builds on the foundations of Harry Styles and Fine Line and brings up a melancholic feeling in us that we haven’t felt in ages. Harry Styles is pop’s favorite rock star and has such a joyful aura. The dancing in the music video alone is reason enough for us to love him.

2. Promis3 — New Horizon

Belgium isn’t really known as a country with huge hyperpop acts, but Promis3 makes us question this. Since their debut a couple of years ago, we saw how the project grew with every release, and “New Horizon” just confirms what we have already known for a long time: Promis3 is one of the most exciting pop acts in our little country. The song combines a very poppy structure with atypical elements from a.o. trance, Eurodance, and gabber.

3. Tristan — Hellballad

We’ve had to wait a long time for new music from Tristan, who previously starred in an ET editorial. The Belgian singer loves to make ballads that blow you away with bombastic sound effects, which is also the case on “Hellballad”. Her singing is the perfect antithesis for the haunting bass that gives the chorus a spooky undertone. Let Tristan guide you through heaven and hell.

4. Ibeyi and Jorja Smith — Lavender and Red Roses

The Afro-French Cuban duo Ibeyi combines different musical influences into their captivating sound. On their new single “Lavender and Red Roses”, the gorgeous Jorja Smith joins them to give an extra dimension to the track with her flawless vocals. It’s a song that needs to be listened to a few times to discover all the details, but that makes it even more exciting.

5. ELIO — Vitamins

We can’t put into words how excited we are to experience Charli XCX’s Crash Tour in May, and she’s in good company. Pop cutie ELIO will open for a handful of European dates and just released her new song “Vitamins”. We don’t need any sun or veggies for our vitamins because this song is giving us serious serotonin. ELIO knows how to make bops and makes us look forward to the Crash Tour even more.

6. Flume and Caroline Polachek — Sirens

What happens when two of our favorite acts collaborate? Indeed, you get high expectations and the hope that you won’t be disappointed. Luckily, Flume and Caroline Polachek’s “Sirens” manages to do meet our expectations and even surprise us with a strong song. Flume experiments with distorted melodies, while Caroline is serving angelic vocals as usual. By the way, producer icon Danny L Harle also contributed to “Sirens” and definitely inspired the outcome with his unique vision of music.

7. Blu DeTiger — Hot Crush Lover

Blu DeTiger has toured as a bassist for a.o. Caroline Polachek and FLETCHER but is conquering the world on her own now. After going viral on TikTok with different covers, it’s her solo music that gets all the attention now. “Hot Crush Summer” is a very catchy and funky summer tune, where she’s once again showing that she’s not just a talented bass player but also knows how to sing. We gotta admit: we have a crush on her.

8. ELIZA — Straight Talk

ELIZA (formerly known as Eliza Doolittle) underwent a huge metamorphosis as an artist and decided to drastically change her sound after scoring a massive hit with “Pack Up”. Her new sound is a very refreshing take on soul and R&B, which helps her make her vocals stand out even more. “Straight Talker” is a very laidback, minimalistic song with an amazing groove that inspires you to dance or just sit back and relax.

9. Pabllo Vittar and Rina Sawayama — Follow Me

As loyal Rina Sawayama fans, we’re always looking forward to new music by the insanely talented singer. This time, she’s featuring on Brasil’s legendary drag queen Pabllo Vittar’s song, who just performed at the South American Lollapaloozas. “Follow Me” is an absolute bop that will turn up at every party on any pride event with the phenomenal vocals and incredibly catchy chorus. Shantay, this one stays (in our playlist).

10. Lorana — All Time High

Inspired by Maggie Rogers, Bon Iver, and Lorde, the upcoming Belgian singer Lorana has crafted her own indie-pop sound. “All Time High” is her first new song since 2021, and we can hear her evolution as a singer and songwriter. The song is super uplifting and gets us in a good mood, which is something we definitely appreciate. Welcome back, Lorana!
