Bad Boys for Life has been in the making for a while with a lot of back and forth, but the Belgian directors Adil and Bilal finally said the first “Action!” in January of 2019. Almost a year later, the movie is out and is surprisingly fun and action-loaded.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence Stay ‘Bad Boys for Life’
More than seventeen years after ‘Bad Boys II’ graced our screens, the unexpected sequel ‘Bad Boys for Life’ is in theatres. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still take care of the lead roles and bring a lot of joy to the screen. We grabbed a big box of popcorn and saw a fun movie with some unexpected twists.
Bad boys = best friends
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still have their incredible chemistry after all these years and deliver in every single shot. Especially Lawrence proves to be hilarious and makes us laugh several times throughout the movie, while Will is bringing a bit more emotion to the screen. Both actors supplement each other so well, that we can’t get enough of Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence).
The unbeatable duo have a lot of highs and lows in the movie and it’s sometimes weird to see how time has changed both characters. Mike is still a very competitive detective, while Marcus wants to live his life as a granddad and enjoy his retirement. As expected, some events (we don’t want to give away too much) will change everything for both of them with some sudden plot twists.
Pleasant surprise
It’s always risky to make a sequel to a legendary movie, but Bad Boys for Life is a pleasant surprise. The action-comedy has a good balance of both genres and has a cool, young cast that includes Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), singer Nicky Jam and Charles Melton (Riverdale). In comparison to Will and Martin, they don’t really stand out, but it’s obvious that the whole movie is made around the two key stars.
Bad Boys for Life is a perfect blockbuster to sit back and relax, so you know what to do.
