Shuting Qiu – I Am Rooted by I Flow
Shuting Qiu is a Chinese designer with a love for writing and clothes. Originally the young designer wanted to become a writer, and actually was doing a great job. She won lots of prizes and loved expressing herself through writing. Eventually, she decided to express herself through visual images. She likes to think this women’s collection is another chance to be a writer as she used her love for writing in her collection by involving Virginia Woolf and used English-style suits. For British references, she used a mix of handicrafts and a tartan. Another inspiration came from her visit to Mumbai. Due to this trip, the collection is very colorful and covered with floral prints and includes handcrafted pieces combined with a more masculine cut and the suits.
For this collection Shuting Qiu concentrates mostly on the clothes as she is a firm believer in going deep with the garments. She strongly believes that that will never change for her, her focus will always be to show the garment. We admire her for this, staying true to yourself is important to stand out, but not everyone is brave enough to do this. The collection itself is also truly beautiful. A picturesque collection finished with marvelous and perfectly finished details.
